Solution Scoping and Design Service


This Service provides a BMC Solution Architect to assist with scoping and design for a Simple* or Complex* Solution based on functional requirements from the Requirements Discovery and Alignment Service. It also provides a high-level Solution Design Document which can be used for future needs.

What you get:

BMC will assist with one of the following types of solutions:

Simple Solution: For BMC solutions involving a single business process or function

Complex Solution: For BMC solutions involving multiple business processes or functions

BMC will perform the following:

  • Review functional requirements from an existing Gap and Configuration Traceability Matrix (GCTM)*. Functional requirements may cover use cases such as, but not limited to, the following:
    • Advanced Configurations*
    • Integrations
    • Requestable services
    • Business workflows
    • Dashboards and reports
  • Prepare a high-level solution and estimates for the functional requirements in the GCTM
  • Conduct a series of remote workshops with Customer over five consecutive business days:
    • Workshop 1 (half day): Configurations and Advanced Configurations
      • Review functional requirements with Customer’s technical owners and discuss high level solution
    • Workshop 2 (half day): Scope for Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
      • Review functional requirements with Customer’s business owners and technical owners to identify and agree on scope of MVP
    • Workshop 3 (half day): Playback and agreement for MVP
      • Review and finalize the agreed scope with business and technical owners prior to Solution Design Document creation
    • For a Complex solution only, BMC will conduct up to four design close-out sessions (quarter day) between workshops 2 and 3 to address queries and actions from prior workshops.
  • Update the GCTM with revised requirements
  • Prepare and review Solution Design Document with Customer

Customer will be responsible for:

  • Providing access to Customer’s business and technical owners during workshops

Deliverables: Using BMC’s standard methodology and templates, the following Deliverables are in scope for this project and will be delivered:

  • Solution Design Document
  • Updated GCTM

Completion Criteria: BMC will have completed the Service when the in-scope Service have been completed and the Deliverables have been reviewed in accordance with the Terms of Use and delivered to the customer Project Manager.  From delivery start date, the service must be consumed and completed within 30 days.  Consultant days must be booked in no less than 8-hour increments/full days.


  • Customer must have a pre-existing GCTM
